In high school, Yang's idol was Marie Curie and she dreamed of becoming a scientist.[1]

Yang was an opera singer for some twenty years. She starred in several large-scale productions. After retiring from opera, she has appeared in film, television, and advertisements. In August 2015, she began modeling for the online retailer, Taobao.[1][2]
