Plot[]

The Makino family arrive at their new home, a run-down apartment. Tsukushi Makino exclaims "This is where we're going to live?" Her mother tells her that they have "no choice" since her father has been laid-off. She then declares "Our future depends on you marrying somebody rich!" At school, Tsukushi overhears the F4 talking about Tsukasa Domyoji going to New York. Tsukasa informs his friends that he will not be returning for two years. Tsukushi runs up to him and yells, "Why are you leaving?" She accuses him of leaving because he was unable to have her and Rui Hanazawa expelled. He responds "This has nothing to do with you." Tsukasa walks pass her as she says "I'll feel a lot better when you're gone."

That night, Tsukushi's family sits down for a measly dinner. Her mother brings up her daughter marrying rich again. The whole family then turns to Tsukushi with "hope in their eyes." Meanwhile, Tsubaki Domyoji asks her brother if he really wants to go to New York. He launches into a story about him and Rui during their childhood. Tsukasa wanted Rui's teddy bear and ended up tearing it while fighting him for it. Though he thought Rui would be mad, the next day he said good morning to Tsukasa with a smile. Present-day Tsukasa says "I've got to make up for what I did." Tsubaki then asks if he is going to New York because of Rui and Tsukushi. He denies it by responding "I'd made up my mind, even before the basketball game."

Tsukushi searches for part-time jobs, deciding to put all her energy into supporting her family. The next day at school, she is thinking about Tsukasa when Rui appears behind her and asks "Is this what you want?" Tsukushi answers "I have no right to stop him." Rui brings up the time she lectured him when Shizuka Todo left for Paris. Tsukushi tells him that "the situation is different" since she does not have feelings for Tsukasa. Rui ignores her and asks to borrow her voice recorder. Later, Akira Mimasaka and Sojiro Nishikado tell Rui that he and Tsukushi are the reason Tsukasa is leaving. Rui acts puzzled so the two guys act out how they think his and Tsukushi's night went. Rui tells them "Nothing happened."

Rui explains to Sojiro and Akira that he thought about sleeping with Tsukushi that night. The two guess that he has not gotten over Shizuka. He answers "That's part of it.." Sojiro asks "So what else is there?," to which Rui said "I just can't betray Tsukasa." He then alludes to his teddy bear as the reason he will not tell Tsukasa this just yet. That afternoon, Tsukushi continues job hunting. She is reminded of Tsukasa when she sees a plane. The next day, the F4 and Tsubaki gather at the airport to say goodbye to Tsukasa. Kazuya Aoike arrives shortly, to their puzzlement. He says "I'm a member of the F4, aren't I?" The others mention Tsukushi not coming to see off Tsukasa, leading Kazuya to inform them of her financial woes.

Kazuya takes a few photos of everyone before Tsukasa boards the plane alone. Rui tosses the voice recorder to Tsukasa. Once in the air, he listens the message of Rui saying "Nothing happened between Makino and me." Tsukasa immediately wants to be let off the plane, but some men hold him down. That night, Tsukushi finds her home in disarray. Her brother reveals that their father borrowed money from a loan shark and then lost it at the racetrack. Their upset mother threatens to divorce their father. The phone rings and Tsukushi answers it. It is Tsukasa asking her to come get him. Annoyed, she yells at him about her family's situation. He promises to lend her the money if she comes to Vancouver.
