Tsukushi: "Why me? I haven't got status, or prestige, or beauty. There are a lot of girls at Eitoku who have all three. I just can't figure out why it's me. The only explanation I can think of is that you're crazy."
Tsukasa: "Maybe I am. I wonder why myself, but this is something you just can't reason out. Besides, I've got the status, prestige, and beauty so you can stay as you are."
Tsukushi and Tsukasa

"Tsukasa's Mother's Secret Plan" (司の母の密かな企み (つかさのははのひそかなたくらみ) Tsukasa no Haha no Hisokana Takurami) is the thirty-sixth entry of Boys Over Flowers, based on the manga of the same name. The episode first aired on May 18, 1997. It was followed by "It's Showdown Time!" on May 25.

Tsukushi Makino and Tsukasa Domyoji spend the night together on his family's yacht. She gives him his birthday present and he kisses her. The next morning, Tsukasa's mother visits Tsukushi and her parents.

Kaede Domyoji says "Let us proceed with the plan immediately" to her secretary, Nishida. He asks if she means the plan for after Tsukasa's graduation from college. Slightly annoyed, Kaede says "The fate of the Domyoji Zaibatsu is at stake. I won't let it be left at the mercy of Tsukasa's whim." Meanwhile, Tsukasa Domyoji says "I'm hungry." Tsukushi Makino suggests they go home, but he stubbornly refuses. She is telling him to stop being "childish" when her own stomach starts to growl. He then proposes that they go fishing, which Tsukushi excitedly agrees to. As Tsukasa sets up the fishing rod, she talks about going clamming with her family. Tsukasa reflects that her life sounds difficult but "it seems like fun."

When Tsukasa sneezes, Tsukushi offers to share her blanket with him. She moves her chair closer to him, which causes their arms to touch. Tsukushi becomes nervous and tells him "Don't come too close," though he points out that she moved in the first place. He then says "If you get all stiff like that, I can't do anything that I'd like to do." Tsukushi quickly stands up. He calls her "weird" since he feels it comes "naturally" for two people in love. She asks "What makes you think I love you?" to which he says "It just hit me." Deciding to "settle" things, Tsukasa asks "How do you feel about me?" She says "I'm not sure," before asking "Why me?" He does not have an answer, saying "This is something you just can't reason out."

Tsukushi is amazed by Tsukasa's confidence, "He thinks it's inevitable that I would fall in love with him." The fishing rod then starts to bend and Tsukasa grabs it. Tsukushi attempts to help him reel it in. It turns out to be a large amount of kelp. Tsukasa laments about how starving he is. Tsukushi is feeling sorry for him, when she remembers his birthday present. She hesitates about giving it to him. He wrestles the present from her. He opens it and stares at the cookies for several moments. Tsukushi talks to cover up her embarrassment, before trying to grab the cookies back. He instead kisses her and declares "I'm so happy!" with a bright smile. Tsukushi blushes, unable to be mad at that smile.

The next morning, Tsukasa drops Tsukushi off at her home. As the taxi drives off, he holds up a toy that spells out "I love you." Tsukushi finds herself with mixed emotions, wondering why she did not slap him when he kissed her. She remembers how happy he was about the cookies, thinking "Does he love cookies that much?" Tsukushi shakes her head, realizing "He loves me." She yawns and decides to get some sleep. Meanwhile, Tsukasa goes over to Rui Hanazawa's house. He wakes him up to shows him the cookies Tsukushi made for him. Rui says "That's great" and takes a bite of one. Tsukasa becomes mad since he has not ate one yet. He then kicks Rui, who makes a comment about the cookies smelling like fish.

Tsubaki Domyoji is feeling nervous about Tsukasa, when her mother walks into the room. She asks her about her plans for Tsukasa and Tsukushi, adding "Don't tell me you'll be as cruel as you were to me!" Kaede feels she should be thankful for her happy life. Tsubaki states "There were things that I lost," but her mother deems them unimportant. After she leaves, Tsubaki cries and says "You'll never understand." Tsukushi's parents wake up Tsukushi when Kaede arrives. She says "I want Tsukushi to give Tsukasa up." Nishida then presents them with fifty million yen. Kaede essentially calls Tsukushi a "pebble," which irritates her. Tsukushi's mother stands up and pours salt on Kaede, saying "Take your money and get out."
