The Toei Anime Fair (
For the spring fair of 1997, Hana Yori Dango: The Movie was developed and premiered along side Hell Teacher Nube and GeGeGe no Kitaro
Background[]
In 1995, the distribution revenue for the Toei Anime Fair began falling. To attract female viewers, a film based on the Hana Yori Dango anime was added to the line-up of the '97 Spring Toei Anime Fair ('97春東映アニメフェア).[3] The film takes place in an alternate universe, likely because the anime was still airing at the time.[4] Also on the schedule were films based on Hell Teacher Nube and GeGeGe no Kitaro.[5] The distribution income for all three of the films was considered a disappointment, earning 540 million yen.[6]
Merchandise[]
Children who came to the fair were given one of three acorn tops. Each featured the main character of the three films, including a pink one with Tsukushi Makino on it.
Videos[]
Notes[]
- After poor earnings, the event concluded with the summer fair of July 2002.[7]
