"The Secret Story of Iris" is a mini-series contained within the Thai drama, F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers. It was directed by Thachai Komolphet.[1] The series has eight segments spread across eight episodes of F4 Thailand. It premiered on February 19, 2022 at the end of the ninth episode and continued until April 9 with the finale.
The series expands on the background of Hirunkit Changkham's character MJ with Ployshompoo Supasap playing his love interest Aum. "The Secret Story of Iris" was sponsored by the fast food chain KFC and its products are weaved heavily into the story's plot.
On her way to work, Gorya orders KFC from her phone and picks it up at the store. She then spots MJ standing in an abandoned basketball court. Gorya shares her food with him, including a Zinger burger which brings back memories for MJ. Gorya teases MJ about having a broken heart, but is surprised when his silence confirms that this is true.
MJ starts telling his story to Gorya. A year prior, MJ is hanging out at the basketball court when Aum asks him to join her team. MJ helps them win. Afterwards, she introduces herself while ordering KFC for the team to celebrate with. Aum ends up getting the wrong idea about MJ's background. Unsure about her to correct her, MJ goes along with it.
Over time, MJ becomes a regular at the court. Aum continues to order KFC after every match that they win. While eating, two students from Kocher High School walk by and say something rude. MJ hides his face and Aum comments that she really hates students from that school. Some day later, a rude guy challenges MJ and Aum's team to a match.
MJ and Aum's team beats the rude guy's. Later, MJ is hanging out with Ren who comments that MJ has not been around lately. When Ren starts lecturing him about school, MJ orders KFC and they go to the store to pick it up. MJ is surprised by Aum, whom brings out their food. He manages to hide his face in time. Afterwards, Ren teases MJ.
After finding out where Aum works, MJ tries his hardest to go to KFC everyday. Later at the court, MJ meets up with Aum for a chat. She reveals that she works and practices to achieve her dream to become a professional basketball player. Aum also comments that a try-out for a league is coming up. The rude guy from the other day looks on.
While studying with Ren, MJ receives a call from Aum asking him to play basketball. He promises to stop by later. The rude guy, meanwhile, challenges Aum. When MJ arrives, his teammates report that the rude guy played dirty and caused Aum to get hurt. MJ asks for a rematch, promising to find a team since the others refuse to play.
MJ buys KFC ahead of the match, feeling sure that his team will win. He is then joined on the court by Thyme, Kavin, and Ren. Meanwhile, Aum, whose leg is broken, receives a call informing her about the match. It is going well until the rude guy's starts playing dirty again. After getting knocked down, Thyme starts beating up the guy.
The fight escalates but Aum stops it. The guy's father shows up and, noticing Kavin, makes his son apologize. Afterwards, Aum is mad at MJ for lying about his background. Present MJ finishes telling his story to Gorya, who looks up Aum online as she leaves. Aum then appears and apologizes to MJ. They play basketball and order KFC again.
The title of the mini-series is a reference to MJ's symbolic flower, an Iris. For F4 Thailand, a flower was picked for each F4 member to represent them.
The song, "Alright Come On" by Sonic Spark, is played during the beginning of the seventh segment.
