Kimura was the most suggested to play Rui in a survey conducted by Margaret. The survey was originally for a movie, but Margaret instead negotiated for an audio drama.[4]

Author Yoko Kamio talks extensively of meeting him during the first taping and her interview with him for Margaret in the series' fourth volume.

In the tenth episode of the anime, a celebrity at Shizuka's party is called Takuya Muraki, a likely reference to Kimura.
