The Takarazuka Revue (宝塚歌劇団 (たからづかかげきだん) Takarazuka Kagekidan) is an all-female musical theatre troupe in Japan. It was founded by Ichizo Kobayashi in 1913. The five troupes of the Takarazuka Revue are called Flower, Moon, Snow, Star, and Cosmos. Each troupe has a pair of actors considered the top otokoyaku (male role) and musumeyaku (female role).

In 2019, the Flower Troupe of the Takarazuka Revue put on a musical adaptation of Boys Over Flowers. The Star Troupe will stage a second musical in 2026.

History with Boys Over Flowers[]

The Takarazuka Revue announced their adaptation of Boys Over Flowers on January 11, 2019. Their Flower Troupe (花組) staged the musical.[1] It starred Rei Yuzuka and Mirei Shiroki in the lead roles.[2] The musical ran for twenty-four performances from June 15 to July 2.[3] The Takarazuka Revue also arranged a live broadcast of Hana Yori Dango, which was streamed across theaters in Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan on June 29.[4] In December 2025, a second adaptation of Boys Over Flowers, titled Hana Yori Dango II: Shooting Star, was announced by the Takarazuka Revue. It will star Chisei Akatsuki and Chizuru Uta from the Star Troupe (星組).[5]
