"Surprise! A Double Date!" (
Tsukushi Makino is bothered after seeing Tsukasa Domyoji kiss Shigeru Okawahara, but refuses to admit it. Later, she runs into the couple while out with Rui Hanazawa. Tsukushi and Rui wind up going with the two to Shigeru's family's villa.
Plot[]
Shigeru Okawahara tells Tsukasa Domyoji to kiss her, saying "Prove to me that you don't love Tsukushi anymore." All the while, Tsukushi Makino and Rui Hanazawa are watching from up above. Shigeru starts to cry, asking "If she means nothing to you, you can kiss me, can't you?" Tsukasa tells her to close her eyes and kisses her. After the couple leaves, Tsukushi clutches her pounding heart. Rui asks "Shocked?" Tsukushi thoroughly denies being so, even claiming that it is like Christmas and New Years' rolled into one. Rui is not buying it, saying "You ramble when you're shaken up." Tsukushi then throws her shoe at him and walks away without retrieving it. Rui laughs to himself and says aloud "She sure is funny."
In her classroom, Tsukushi fumes as she thinks about Tsukasa kissing Shigeru. She invents her own scenario, in which Tsukasa tells Shigeru "I don't care about Makino. You're the only one for me, baby." Tsukushi breaks her pencil by stabbing her notebook and rips it apart. Minako Yamano whispers into Yuriko Asai's ear "Makino's finally snapped." Yuriko haughtily says "Domyoji was just toying with her from the start." Turning her attention to them, Tsukushi says "Don't you think that this broken pencil can become a weapon?" After they run in fear, a worried Makiko Endo presents Tsukushi her shoe which Rui had just handed her. She blushes, realizing she had completely forgotten about it.
After school, Tsukushi is still angry while walking home with Kazuya Aoike, who asks her if something is wrong. She tells him "I'm just fed up with my own stupidity. I've always been so gullible." Kazuya says "That's why you're so wonderful," and even confesses his feelings for her. Tsukushi does not hear the confession part, but starts to feel better about herself. She declares "I just have to be careful not to be fooled where it counts!" Happy about her "second chance," she thanks Kazuya for being there for her and tells him "Let's be friends forever!" She then runs home, where Chieko Makino asks if things are "going well" with Tsukasa. She reports "He has a girlfriend now."
At dinner, Susumu Makino learns that their father has lost his job and worries that he will not be able to go on his school trip. Tsukushi assures him that she can pay for it with her wages. Later, after a long shift, Tsukushi and Yuki Matsuoka say goodbye. It starts to rain when Tsukushi thinks about Tsukasa kissing Shigeru again. Someone asks her "How about a cup of tea?" She thinks it is a "pick-up artist," before turning around and finding Rui. They sit down for tea at a café, where Tsukushi tells him that he "startled" her. Rui insists that he was "the one who was startled" seeing some "lonesome girl walking in the rain." She then asks him "What were you doing all alone?" He simply answers "Taking a walk."
Rui mentions wanting to go to a hot springs, which Tsukushi finds odd since he does not seem the "type." She is alarmed when she hears Shigeru's voice behind her. Shigeru quickly joins their table, forcing Tsukasa to sit next to her. He glares openly at Tsukushi, who puts on a fake happy voice and asks them about their date. Shigeru reveals that she tried to take him to a hotel but he refused. Tsukushi then says "The girl is more than willing. Why don't you just do it?" They glare at each other until an oblivious Shigeru mentions going to her family's villa. Tsukushi tries to turn down her offer, but Rui agrees after learning there is a hot spring there. Minutes later, Tsukushi finds herself going down the highway with the others.
