This television series is a loosely-based, unofficial and/or unlicensed adaptation of Boys Over Flowers. It is not officially connected to the franchise and should not be considered to be.
Not to be confused with Siapa Takut Jatuh Cinta (2017 drama).

Siapa Takut Jatuh Cinta is a 2002 Indonesian soap opera produced by Prima Entertainment.[1] The series was accused of plagiarizing the Taiwanese drama Meteor Garden (2001), which was based on the manga Boys Over Flowers by Yoko Kamio.[2] The drama aired for over thirty episodes from April to December 2002.[3][4]

The series stars Leony Vitria Hartanti as the female lead, Indra Bruggman, Roger Danuarta, Jonathan Frizzy, and Steve Emmanuel as the clique her character challenges.[5] It also features Rorencia Natassia in a supporting role.[6] In 2017, a remake of Siapa Takut Jatuh Cinta starring Natasha Wilona and Verrell Bramasta premiered on SCTV.[7]

The story follows Oni (Hartanti), who starts attending an expensive university. There she clashes with the ruling clique, earning the admiration of the leader Indra (Bruggman). She, however, dislikes Indra and instead likes his friend Roger (Danuarta).

Premise[]

Oni (Leony Vitria Hartanti) is a normal teenager who lives with her parents. Her materialistic mother forces her to attend an expensive university in Jakarta in order for her to find a rich husband. Oni, however, dislikes the university and does not fit in with her classmates due to class differences. On top of that, the school is controlled by a group of four rich boys, called the Bozz Boys, whose parents founded the university. She clashes particularly with their leader, Indra (Indra Bruggman), whom finds her attitude refreshing and starts to fall in love. Unfortunately for him, she has eyes for his friend, Roger (Roger Danuarta).[8][5]

After wrapping up her work on Jangan Panggil Aku Cina, Leony Vitria Hartanti was contacted by Prima Entertainment and given the script for the first two episodes of Siapa Takut Jatuh Cinta. She agreed to the role after studying the scripts for several days. A producer informed her that the initial storyline was taken from Meteor Garden (2001), but assured her that the rest deviated from it. Hartanti felt Siapa Takut Jatuh Cinta was different enough not to constitute plagiarism.[5] However, after its premiere on April 14, 2002,[3] fans of Meteor Garden noticed the similarities and accused it of plagiarism. Reportedly, Prima Entertainment insisted that the production was their own work but proceeded to revise the following episodes.[11] Siapa Takut Jatuh Cinta went on to air for over thirty episodes and concluded on December 22, 2002.[4]
