Sho ( (しょう) Shō, born May 9, 2006 in Los Angeles, California) is an American child model and actor of Japanese and German descent. He made his debut in Hana Nochi Hare playing a younger version of the main character Haruto Kaguragi. Sho previously resided with his family in Los Angeles, but is currently studying abroad in Japan.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Sho was born Alex (アレックス () )[1] on May 9, 2006 in Los Angeles, California.[2][3] His immediate family consists of his parents and older sister. Sho became popular on the internet via his Instagram account, which his mother manages.[4] His father is German and his mother is Japanese.[5] As of 2020, Sho is attending school in Japan. He previously traveled back and forth between Los Angeles and Japan.[6]

Career[]

Due to his popularity on Instagram, Sho received several requests from Japanese talent agencies. The president of Seventh Avenue visited Sho's family in person in the United States. Sho signed with Seventh Avenue. He made his debut in the entertainment business at the runway show, Tokyo Girls Collection on March 31, 2018.[7] In April, Sho had his drama debut in Hana Nochi Hare: Hanadan Next Season as a younger version of Sho Hirano's character, Haruto Kaguragi.[5] He released his first photo book titled, Happy!! on July 26.[8] Sho walked the runway at the Tokyo Girls Collection in March 2019[9] and again in February 2020.[10]

Starting in January 2021, Sho is appearing in the television program, Zip!. He plays an American exchange student in a segment encouraging the viewers to learn English.[6]

  • Sho shares his name with Sho Hirano, whom he portrayed a younger version of in Hana Nochi Hare. However, Sho uses the kanji , while Hirano spells it as 紫耀.

  • Prior to 2020, Sho and his family often traveled from the United States to visit his mother's family in Fukuoka.[11]
  • His name comes from Sho Sakurai, whom his mother is a fan of.[12] Sakurai happens to be a member of Arashi with Jun Matsumoto.

  • Sho currently belongs to the same agency as Riku Kashima and Nanako Matsushima.
