Okawahara (大河原 (おおかわはら) Ōkawahara)[1] was the father of Shigeru Okawahara. He was the head of the powerful Okawahara Corporation. At one point, his daughter was arranged to marry Domyoji Group heir Tsukasa Domyoji though it was called off.

Biography[]

He was apart of the Okawahara family, known as "one of Japan's great family fortunes." They had connections to a large American oil company.[2] When his daughter Shigeru was eighteen, he and his wife arranged an engagement between her and Domyoji Group heir Tsukasa Domyoji. Shigeru had to be dragged to The Maple Hotel to meet him and his mother Kaede. At first, Shigeru was opposed to the engagement.[3] Several days after Shigeru and Tsukasa began dating, she became depressed and stopped going to school. This worried both her father and mother.[4] Shigeru ultimately requested for the engagement to be called off. Her parents acquiesced.[5]

Physical appearance[]

Okawahara was a normal middle-aged man with a genial face. He had light, possibly graying hair which he combed neatly. His most prominent feature were his large glasses. Okawahara's wardrobe consisted of a suit and tie.

Personality and traits[]

His happy, smiling face indicated that he was likely a friendly sort of person. Okawahara was also understanding since he did not appear to be offended by Tsukasa's rude words. He and his wife seemed to got along well with each other as well.

Etymology[]

Okawahara (大河原; おおかわはら) contains three kanji. The first means "large" (大),[6] the second "river" (河),[7] and the third "meadow," "field," etc. (原).[8] The kanji can be combined to mean "large river" (大河)[9] and "dry riverbed" (河原).[10]
