"Night of the Crescent Moon" ( 三日月の夜〜クレセントムーン〜, 三日月の夜〜クレセントムーン〜 Mikazuki no Yoru ~ Kuresento Mūn), also translated as "Crescent Moon Night," is a special chapter of Boys Over Flowers by Yoko Kamio. The chapter was published in Margaret on December 5, 2003. It was included in the final volume of the series.

The story follows Akira Mimasaka, who has his hands full taking care of his family and friends. He snaps at his friends for only thinking of themselves. Later, Tsukushi Makino causes him to have a revelation about himself.

• According to Yoko Kamio, the story takes place sometime before Tsukushi and Tsukasa start dating. Based on Tsukushi's short hair, it takes place after chapter ninety-six and before chapter one hundred and twenty-three, when Tsukushi and Tsukasa start dating for the first time.
• Akira mentions Sara indirectly, saying "We sort of thought there might have been a girl that Sojiro liked."

Yoko Kamio had considered writing a story about Akira for a long time. She never had the time to write it until Boys Over Flowers ended.

In Boys Over Flowers: Jewelry Box, Kamio stated "I made [Akira] the main character because I felt I hadn't done a good job of fleshing him out." After writing the story, she received letters from readers "telling [her] that they had come to like Akira" which made her happy.

On January 21, 2018, the story was published on Shonen Jump+ instead of a new chapter of Boys Over Flowers Season 2.

"Gorenjai"

• The costume characters are called "Gorenjai" (ゴレンジャイ), a reference to a skit from Downtown no Gottsu Ee Kanji, which itself is a parody of Himitsu Sentai Gorenger from the Super Sentai series. The English translation refers to them as Power Rangers, the American counterpart to Super Sentai.
