Miyuki Furuta (古田 美雪 (ふるた みゆき) , Furuta Miyuki) was a former student at Mitaka City West Junior High School. She met Susumu Makino while taking the entrance exam for Metropolitan Kitazawa High School. He later confessed his feelings to her, but she turned him down.

Etymology

Miyuki's (美雪; みゆき) given name contains the kanji for "beautiful" (美) and "snow" (雪). Her surname Furuta (古田; ふるた) also contains two kanji. It means "old" (古) and "rice field" or "rice paddy" (田).
