In the sixth grade, she auditioned for JYP Entertainment and trained for a year, before being sent to America. Min studied at the Repertory Company High School for Theatre Arts in preparation for her debut.[3]

She worked on her debut with JYP Entertainment executive Park Jin-young and American rapper Lil Jon.[3] Min went on to release three solo singles, "Dance Like This", "Go Ahead", and "Boyfriend".

Following her US debut, Min joined the girl group Miss A with Suzy, Fei, and Jia.
