Meteor Garden Original Soundtrack (Chinese: 流星花園 電視原聲帶) is the soundtrack to the Taiwanese drama, Meteor Garden. It was released by EMI in June 2001. The soundtrack was formatted for CD and VCD+DVD.[2]
It sold over 100,000 copies.[3]
The soundtrack was first announced by EMI in early June 2001, two months after Meteor Garden premiered on television.[4] It was released on two formats, CD and VCD+DVD.[2] The series' opening and ending themes, Harlem Yu's "Qing Fei De Yi" ("Can't Help Falling for You") and "Ni Yao De Ai" ("The Love You Want") by Penny Tai, were featured on the soundtrack.[5] Yu also had a cameo playing "Qing Fei De Yi in the final episode of Meteor Garden.[6] The scene was replicated in the 2018 remake.[7]
EMI obtained the rights to a number of English songs used in the drama. It took the record company roughly three months and about one million New Taiwan dollars to license the music. Queen's "Love of My Life" was the most expensive.[8]Zheng Jun's "Liu Xing Xiang Lian" (流星項鍊 Liú Xīng Xiàng Liàn, "Shooting Star"), a cover of "Yellow" by Coldplay, was also included.
