- — Tsukasa tells his mother about Tsukushi
"Lovers on the Run!?" (
Tsukushi Makino finds herself face to face with Tsukasa Domyoji's intimidating mother. With the help of his sister, the two are able to escape the party. Tsukushi falls asleep in the car and wakes up on Tsukasa's family's yacht.
Tsukushi Makino is frozen in terror as Tsukasa Domyoji declares "This is the most important woman in my life." She thinks to herself "What about me? Do you care how I feel?" His mother Kaede glares at him sharply, before asking "You do know what it means, for you to call her that?" Tsukasa simply answers "Yes." Tsukushi is about to speak up when Sojiro Nishikado and Akira Mimasaka stand in front of her. They nervously inform Kaede that Tsukushi is a friend of theirs from school, adding at the end "There's nothing to be suspicious of." She orders them to "stay out of this" and says "I am asking whether she is fit to join the Domyoji family or not." This easily silences Akira and Sojiro, who both apologize.
Kaede walks up to Tsukushi and asks for her name and about her father. Rui Hanazawa smoothly lies by saying "He's the president of Makino & Co." Sojiro and Akira both confirm it. Tsukushi starts to feel dizzy and Rui steadies her, whispering "Bluff your way through this for now." Kaede then asks Tsukushi to play a song. Akira and Sojiro usher her to the piano, though she has no idea how to play it. Tsukushi looks to Tsukasa, who has done nothing to help her. Tsubaki Domyoji tries to defend Tsukushi. Kaede replies "Any woman who marries into the Domyoji family will eventually have to go out into society." Tsukushi becomes annoyed thinking "I wouldn't want a woman like this for a mother-in-law!"
Instead of trying to play, Tsukushi bangs loudly on the keys of the piano. Tsukasa smiles at her defiant performance. Once Tsukushi is finished, Kaede stands up and declares "I knew it." She confronts Tsukasa, who tells her "She's not the daughter of any company's president, but it doesn't matter to me." Kaede becomes angry and compares Tsukushi to a "bug." Tsukasa tells his mother that he loves Tsukushi. Kaede slaps him and orders him to stop seeing her. Tsukushi tries to say that she and Tsukasa are not dating, but Kaede interrupts her. Tsubaki tells Tsukasa to leave, promising to handle everything. He grabs Tsukushi's arm and beats up the bodyguards outside, before the two leave in a taxi.
Tsukasa watches Tsukushi, who has fallen asleep in the taxi. She dreams of that night. Meanwhile, Sojiro, Akira, and Rui are out at a bar. Remembering Tsukasa's words, Sojiro says "Tsukasa's finally grown up, huh." Akira voices hope that Tsukushi "might consider" dating Tsukasa now. He thinks for a second and says "Or maybe not," which makes them all sigh. They then start talking about Tsukasa's mother, leading Rui to bring up the time they went to his house during middle school. Back then, she told her son "If you insist on associating with these boys, your brain will rot and melt away." Meanwhile, Tsubaki is back at home drinking. She stares at the moon as flashes of the day play through her mind.
Tsukasa wakes up Tsukushi, who realizes that they are on the ship from their Atami trip. She reminisces about it, before thinking of her first kiss with Tsukasa. He teases "You'd never been kissed before then, right?" causing a small squabble. Back inside, they sit down to tea. He talks about his parents, revealing that they feel like a "family of strangers." Tsukasa then tells her "Don't worry about my mother. I'll decide my own life." Tsukushi does not take him seriously for a second, thinking "I have nothing to do with his life, do I?" Meanwhile, Kaede has a meeting with her secretary who tells her about Tsukushi's background. She declares "We've got to squish the bug quickly before the Domyoji name comes to further harm."
