Korean Broadcasting System (Hangul: 한국방송공사), or KBS, is the national broadcaster of South Korea, which was founded in 1927 as a radio station. KBS branched into television in the 1950s and remains one of the country's leading broadcasters. In 2009, the company partnered with Group 8 on the production of Boys Over Flowers.
History with Boys Over Flowers[]
KBS and the production company Group 8 partnered together for a Korean adaptation of Boys Over Flowers. For the most part, KBS was only in charge of broadcasting. The company originally wanted a director from their drama department attached to the project. However, the plans fell through, possibly due to production delays.[1] Jeon Ki-sang, a former KBS director, was later hired.[2] Boys Over Flowers proved to be a ratings hit for the company, reaching an over 30% viewership rating regularly.[3][4]
Channels[]
KBS2 is KBS's entertainment channel originally launched in 1980. Boys Over Flowers aired on KBS2 in 2009.[5]
KBS World is the international broadcasting service for KBS and a sister channel of KBS2. Boys Over Flowers also aired on KBS World in several countries.[6]
