Junko Ekuni (
Biography[]
In her third year at Eitoku Academy, Junko was selected to enter Teen of Japan. She competed against fellow Eitoku students, Sakurako Sanjo and Tsukushi Makino, and Eirin Academy students, Ayano Kurimaki, Kazuko Kubo, and Sonoko Maekawa. In the first round, Junko and Kazuko failed to impress the judges with their fashion selections and did not pass on to the second round.[1]
Physical appearance[]
Junko was significantly taller than the other contestants, towering over Tsukushi and Sakurako. She had long, dark hair which was also curled. Like other Eitoku students, Junko probably wore name-brand fashions. Designer Arthur Smith viewed her and the other contestants fashions as too conventional, excepting only Tsukushi.
Personality and traits[]
Being a student at Eitoku, Junko was familiar with Tsukushi but not acquainted with her. She showed a bit of animosity towards her, when she told Tsukushi she was dressed like a "pauper." As such, Junko was likely angry when Tsukushi passed to the next round instead of her.
Etymology[]
Junko (順子; じゅんこ) is a Japanese female given name. There are at least six different ways to spell it, not counting hiragana or katakana.[2] In Junko's case, she uses 順 which means "obey," "order," etc.[3] The second kanji (子) in her given name means "child" and is a common suffix added to female given names.[4] Her surname Ekuni (江國; えくに) contains two kanji. The first means "bay," "inlet," and "creek"[5] and the second means "country" and "nation."[6]
