Hana Yori Dango Exhibition: Jewelry Box (花より男子展 -Jewelry BOX-) was an exhibit commemorating the thirtieth anniversary of Yoko Kamio's manga Boys Over Flowers. The exhibition began in Tokyo on April 19, 2023. It was subsequently held in five other prefectures around Japan, coming to a close on January 10, 2024. Over two hundred pieces of art from the series were on display.
Background[]
On Tsukasa Domyoji's birthday, January 31, 2023, a thirtieth anniversary exhibit for Boys Over Flowers was announced. A new key visual was also released.[1] The event was first held at Matsuya Ginza from April 19 to May 8, 2023.[2] Tickets went on sale on January 31. Advance tickets were sold through a lottery system.[3] An autograph session with Yoko Kamio was held at the venue on April 29.[4] Customers had to purchase a special ticket to participate in the fan meeting.[5] The dates and venues of the other planned exhibits in Osaka, Shizuoka, Fukuoka, and Hyogo were announced on April 5.[6][7] An exhibit in Miyagi was first announced on June 19, 2023; tickets started selling from June 23.[8] The exhibit was held at Sendai Mitsukoshi in Miyagi from August 2 to 13.[9]
Tickets for the Osaka exhibit went on sale on June 21.[10] The exhibit took place from August 16 to 28 at the Hanshin Umeda Main Store.[11] The Osaka location featured an exclusive photo spot.[12] On August 2, advance tickets for the Hamamatsu, Shizuoka exhibit went on sale.[13] The exhibit came to Shizuoka from September 5 to 19 at the Entetsu Department Store.[14] Tickets for the Fukuoka exhibit went on sale on September 16.[15] It ran from November 22 to December 4 at Hakata Hankyu.[16] The Fukuoka exhibit featured a new photo spot.[17] Advance tickets for the Hyogo exhibit went on sale on November 1.[18] The exhibit took place from December 21, 2023 to January 10, 2024 at Kobe Hankyu.[19] It was closed on New Years Day and also ended early on December 31 and January 2.[20] A new photo spot was added and costumes from the 2019 musical were on display.[21][22]

The exhibition featured around two hundred and fifty pieces from Boys Over Flowers, including color and black and white pieces. It was a mix of artwork from the series' original serialization and new art by Yoko Kamio.[23] The exhibition was split into sections, titled "Prologue," "Chapter 1 to Chapter 3," and "Chapter 4." The first section, "Prologue," included the original cover art of the series' thirty-seven volumes. "Chapter 1 to Chapter 3" had around one hundred and fifty art pieces on display. It was mostly black and white originals as well as select color pieces and furoku. This section hosted a video exhibition. "Chapter 4" had sixty, mostly color pieces on display. There was also a corner dedicated to the F4.[24]
Merchandise[]

From February 5 to March 31, 2023, Matsuya Ginza sold a set of chocolates featuring Boys Over Flowers characters.[25] Customers had an option to buy an add-on ticket, called a "Jewelry Box," which included exclusive merchandise, such as a notebook, sticky notes, and stickers.[6] Furthermore, customers were given one randomly selected clear card when they presented their ticket at the entrace.[26] Several exclusive items were also available for purchase at the venue's gift shop.[27]
Following the last exhibit, merchandise was made available for purchase on the website, Geeniest Online. The items were sold from January 11, 2024 until March 29.[28] A select number of items were also sold on the website, Sun M Color, from February 4 to April 30.[29]
Promotion[]

In April 2023, Da Vinci interviewed Yoko Kamio about the thirtieth anniversary of Boys Over Flowers and discussed the highlights of the exhibit.[30] She was interviewed by Shueisha Online for a two-part article the same month.[31][32] Comedian duo Tanpopo, Kumiko Shiratori and Emiko Kawamura, were invited to the opening. They were interviewed by the press about their love for Boys Over Flowers.[33]
The MG Café in Tokyo had a collaboration menu inspired by Boys Over Flowers.[34] In Sendai, the restaurant Landmark also had a special menu.[35] Six cafés and restaurants had collaboration items on their menus for the Osaka exhibit.[11]

- Mao Inoue, Jun Matsumoto, Shun Oguri, Shota Matsuda, Tsuyoshi Abe, Nanako Matsushima, Katsuaki Setoguchi, Shinichi Sanjo (TBS), Maki Mochida, Maki Minami, Shueisha, Margaret, Shonen Jump+, Jump Square, Manga Mee, Seoul Media Corporation, and GMMTV (via Akatsuki) sent flowers to the opening of the Tokyo exhibit, which were put on display for visitors.[36]
- Natsuki Kato visited the exhibition in April 2023.[37] She later posted a vlog about it on her YouTube channel.
