Tontawan Tantivejakul and Vachirawit Chivaaree promoting F4 Thailand

F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers was primarily promoted on GMMTV's various social media accounts, including Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook. GMMTV also hosts a page for F4 Thailand on their website, which contains links to watch the series on YouTube.[1] The first promotional photos were posted by GMMTV on September 16, 2020.[2] In 2021, due to a stay at home order, GMMTV produced a web series called Live at Lunch. Metawin Opas-iamkajorn hosted it on May 16,[3] followed by Jirawat Sutivanichsak and Hirunkit Changkham on May 19.[4] The three actors and Vachirawit Chivaaree hosted on June 14.[5]

An official trailer for F4 Thailand was released by GMMTV on December 3, 2021.[6] Promotional photos were also published.[7] GMMTV hosted a live interview with series stars Chivaaree and Tontawan Tantivejakul on February 25, 2022.[8] Another live interview was held on Instagram to commemorate the finale on April 9. It featured the main cast as well as Chanikarn Tangkabodee.[9]

The New Decade Begins[]

Once a year GMMTV hosts a press conference to announce their upcoming projects. F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers was first announced at the 2020 New & Next conference on October 15, 2019.[10] The next conference, titled The New Decade Begins, was held on December 3, 2020. It was attended by Tontawan Tantivejakul, Vachirawit Chivaaree, Metawin Opas-iamkajorn, Jirawat Sutivanichsak, Hirunkit Changkham, director Patha Thongpan, and several members of the supporting cast. Additionally, a pilot trailer for F4 Thailand was unveiled.[11]

First Premiere[]

The first episode of F4 Thailand had a theater premiere at SF World Cinema on December 18, 2021.[12] It was attended by Tantivejakul, Chivaaree, Opas-iamkajorn, Sutivanichsak, Changkham, Chanikarn Tangkabodee, and director Thongpan. They were interviewed before the showing by Leo Saussay.[13] The interview was broadcast live on GMMTV's YouTube and Facebook accounts.[14]

Shooting Star Concert[]

A concert for Chivaaree, Opas-iamkajorn, Sutivanichsak, and Changkham was announced on June 4, 2022.[15] It took place on July 23 at Union Hall, Union Mall.[16] Tantivejakul, Tangkabodee, Yongwaree Anilbol, Gawin Caskey, and Ployshompoo Supasap were special guests at the concert.[17][18] It was followed by Shooting Star Asia Tour, which visited nine cities in Asia.

In December 2020, Vachirawit Chivaaree and Metawin Opas-iamkajorn collaborated with Mint in a photo and video series titled "BrightWin x MintEscape."[34] Opas-iamkajorn and Chanikarn Tangkabodee were featured in the digital magazine, Elle Crush, in January 2022.[35]

Before the premiere of F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers, a special titled "F4 Thailand Begins" aired on December 11, 2021.[37] It features behind the scenes footage as well as interviews from Tontawan Tantivejakul, Vachirawit Chivaaree, Metawin Opas-iamkajorn, Jirawat Sutivanichsak, Hirunkit Changkham, and director Patha Thongpan.

Collaborations[]

Dutch Mill[]

In February 2021, Vachirawit Chivaaree, Metawin Opas-iamkajorn, Jirawat Sutivanichsak, and Hirunkit Changkham signed on as representatives for Dutch Mill.[38] They appeared in a commercial the following month.[39] From March 15 to 21, Dutch Mill held its first campaign. The top spenders of their products received dolls of the four actors, a signed photo, or front row tickets to Dutch Mill Prom Party, which took place on March 29 at CentralWorld.[40][41] A second commercial was released on July 14.[42] For a limited time, the products were sold with the actors' likeness on them.[43] A second campaign was held from July 15 to 20. Winners were able to take a photo with the guys and receive a special gift set at the Lucky Plus Moment event.[44] The event was pushed back to November 23.[45]

A third campaign held from October 18 to November 12 allowed participants a chance to win a set of four MRT cards.[46] For four days in November and December, customers received a neck tag with their order.[47] Then from November 24 to January 3, customers received an exclusive set of cards with their order. There were three sets in total and it was only available in Bangkok and Nonthaburi.[48] In the final campaign of 2021, customers were able to win a special box set of products.[49] In January 2022, there was a campaign to win a doll of Changkham.[50] It was followed by a contest to win a doll of Chivaaree.[51] A third and final commercial was released on May 15.[52] An event was held on July 27 at West Gate Hall. The top twenty spenders of Dutch Mill products were able to attend.[53][54]

L'Officiel Hommes[]

L'Officiel Hommes partnered with the F4 Thailand stars for a special photo shoot. It coincided with Gucci launching a pop-up store in Thailand. Tontawan Tantivejakul, Chivaaree, Opas-iamkajorn, Sutivanichsak, and Changkham were styled in the Gucci 100 collection.[55]

Deoklear[]

Deoklear was one of F4 Thailand's sponsors. The company hosted a campaign, titled "Klear with F4," in which fans were able to win tickets for the premiere.[56] Deoklear also hosted a variety program, "All Day 4 Klear by Deoklear," which GMMTV posted on their YouTube channel on December 29, 2021. Tantivejakul, Chivaaree, Opas-iamkajorn, Sutivanichsak, and Changkham all appeared in the program.[57]

In Japan, F4 Thailand was promoted by their Japanese broadcaster TV Asahi CS. It was primarily promoted on TV Asahi CS's social media accounts on Twitter and Instagram. A web page for the series was launched on December 10, 2021.[58] TV Asahi hosted a giveaway on the web page from April 30 to May 6, 2022. Ten people were selected to win a F4 Thailand poster.[59]

Additionally, TV Asahi CS arranged for posters advertising F4 Thailand to be placed at Tokyo Station. The posters there for seven days, starting on December 13.[60]

Interviews[]

In December 2021, Vachirawit Chivaaree and Metawin Opas-iamkajorn appeared on the back cover of TV Guide while Jun Matsumoto was featured on the front.[61] They were featured on the back again in September 2022, along with Hirunkit Changkham and Jirawat Sutivanichsak.[62] In March 2023, Shinyusha released Thai Drama Fanbook Vol.2 which features F4 Thailand on the cover.[63] Shinyusha promoted the fan book at Thai Festival Osaka in May.[64]

An exclusive special with the F4 Thailand stars was produced for TV Asahi CS. It aired on March 5, 2022 after the eleventh episode of the series.[71]

Philippines[]

The broadcaster ABS-CBN promoted F4 Thailand in the Philippines. It was promoted on ABS-CBN's various social media accounts on multiple platforms.[72][73][74] organized a press conference with the stars of F4 Thailand that was broadcast live on March 27, 2022.[75]

Reach 4 the Stars[]

Reach-4-the-Stars
Globe Telecom announced a fan meeting, called Reach 4 the Stars, on November 5, 2022. It was an exclusive event for meant for Globe customers only.[76] Customers were able to redeem tickets with their reward points.[77] Tickets were completely sold out by November 10.[78] Using their reward points, Globe customers also had the option to watch a livestream of the fan meeting.[79] Reach 4 the Stars took place on November 20, the day after the Manila leg of Shooting Star Asia Tour, at 5th Avenue in Bonifacio Global City. A press conference with the Filipino media was held before the fan meeting began.[80] The fan meeting was hosted by Show Suzuki.[81]
