Shan Cai's thoughts while dancing with Lei

Episode 3 (第3集), also titled "Chapter Three" (Chapter 參), is the third episode of the drama, Meteor Garden. The episode originally aired on April 26, 2001 on CTS in Taiwan. It was preceded by episode two on April 19 and followed by episode four on May 3.

Dong Shan Cai goes on a cruise with the F4. She experiences many ups-and-downs on the trip with Hua Ze Lei and Dao Ming Si, including kissing the latter by accident. Back at school, an enraged Si attacks Shan Cai.

Plot[]

After learning that Dong Shan Cai is sick, Dao Ming Si pays a visit to her home. Shan Cai tells her parents that he is the reason she is sick. Her father immediately begins berating him and demands to know his father's name. Upon learning he is the son of Dao Ming Cheng, her parents collapse to their knees. They promptly change into their best clothes and invite Si to stay for dinner. Shan Cai is forced to go along with it. During dinner, Shan Cai finds herself a bit impressed with Si's manners. Her mother has Shan Cai walk Si out after they are done eating. He offers to pay for her to go on the class trip to Hawaii. She refuses, informing him that she is going on a three-day cruise with Chen Qing He instead.

Later, Si informs Mei Zuo and Xi Men that they are not going to Hawaii anymore. On the day of the cruise, Shan Cai and Qing He arrive at the ship. They meet Si and learn that he has bought it. The pair nearly decide to forgo the cruise, but Teng Tang Jing and Hua Ze Lei encourage Shan Cai to join them. Later on, Jing invites her to their party. She lends a dress to Shan Cai, and fixes her hair and make-up. At the party, Xi Men and Mei Zuo compliment her appearance and ask her to dance. When she dances with Lei, Shan Cai feels like it is a "dream." Bai He and Qian Hui become jealous of her. Qian Hui then comes up with a game and announces for everyone to kiss whomever they like when the lights turn off. Chaos ensues.

When the light turns on, Shan Cai finds herself on top of Si with their lips touching. She quickly runs out of the room and Si follows her. He tries to embrace her from behind, but she runs away again. The next morning, when she meets the F4, Shan Cai says the kiss was an accident while looking at Lei. He responds "Whom you kiss is no concern of mine." Depressed, she remains in her cabin until deciding to return Jing's dress. Near Jing's room, she overhears her talking to Lei. Jing suggests that Lei likes Shan Cai, which annoys him. He declares his feelings for Jing and kisses her. Meanwhile, Qing He challenges Si to a swimming contest but fails instantly. They then look around for food, before deciding to fish.

Shan Cai starts crying while thinking of her memories of Lei. She wipes her tears away as Si and Qing He walk up. The guys cheer her up a bit, leading her to think "I'm glad I'm not alone on this sad night." After Si decides to make sashimi, he wakes up everyone to eat. Shan Cai talks with Lei and admits that she saw him and Jing. Crying, she asks if he hates her. He replies "If I loathed you, I wouldn't have rescued you." Unbeknownst to them, they are being taped. On the next day of school, Qing He thinks that he and Shan Cai will no longer be bullied. He is quickly proved wrong when someone throws something at them. After checking her locker, Shan Cai discovers her shoes missing and finds Si wearing them as a childish prank.

On the roof, Si sees Lei and Shan Cai together. He asks Xi Men and Mei Zuo if they knew of their meetings. Bai He and Qian Hui walk up and show him a video of Lei and Shan Cai. Enraged, Si believes he has been made a fool and returns to the rooftop, where he now finds Shan Cai alone. He kisses her forcefully and chases her when she runs. Si stops when she begins crying. He later tries to apologize by gifting her a dress. Angry, she plans to return it but then decides to give it to Li Zhen, who has nothing to wear to Jing's birthday party. Later, Xiao You comes over to Shan Cai's house. She tells her about what happened, before asking Xiao You to attend the party with her. They are both at a lost for what to wear.
