"Do You Want a Friend?" (
After returning from Canada, Tsukushi Makino meets Junpei Oribe, a freshman at Eitoku Academy. She finds him odd due to his careless attitude towards the F4. He later offers to be her friend and reveals his secret to her.
Plot[]
Walking to Eitoku Academy, Tsukushi Makino vividly remembers what happened between her and Tsukasa Domyoji in Canada. She sighs and says "How should I act when I see him again?" Just as she thinks this, she comes face-to-face with Tsukasa. He has a similar embarrassed reaction to seeing her. Sojiro Nishikado teases Tsukasa by telling him to "Say hello to your lady love." Blushing, Tsukasa and Tsukushi say good morning to each other. Akira Mimasaka then says "Didn't you two warm each other with your bare bodies?" Tsukushi shouts that she does not want to think about that, adding "Especially because of him!" Tsukasa becomes indignant, inevitably leading to an argument between the two.
A little later, Tsukushi is walking up the stairs when Yuriko Asai and her friends confront her. Yuriko sarcastically says "I'm so glad to see you're feeling better." They insinuate that Tsukushi should thank them since their trick allowed her to spend time with Tsukasa. She says "I almost died because of you!" and tries to walk past them. Yuriko trips Tsukushi, sending her falling down the stairs. Suddenly, books fall and hit the girls. A freshman apologizes and they finally leave. After Tsukushi helps pick up the books, the guy asks "You're Tsukushi Makino, right?" He then proceeds to call her "Eitoku's Joan of Arc," comparing her to the famous historical figure. Tsukushi thinks "What was that?" as he walks away.
During lunch, Tsukushi recounts her trip to Makiko Endo. Seeing Tsukushi's lunch, Makiko offers to share their lunches. She thinks to herself "It's nice to have friends." After saying goodbye to Makiko, Tsukushi runs into the same guy who introduces himself as Junpei Oribe. She hears the F4 approaching and hides. Junpei joins her and asks why she is hiding. Tsukushi answers "Nothing good comes of being with those guys!" Meanwhile, Sojiro and Akira tease Tsukasa about Tsukushi again. Irritated, he yells "Why would I want to think about that dog?" which he follows with several insults. Junpei then shouts "You idiots!" Tsukushi grabs him and runs, before the F4 can find them.
Tsukushi is amazed that someone else would stand up to the F4. She gives Junpei a warning about crossing the F4. He says "Doesn't it make you mad?" and recounts Tsukasa's insults. She reiterates that he should "keep clear" of the F4. Junpei says "I guess I should just hang on for two more years," which reminds Tsukushi of how she used to feel. He puts two ants on a paper airplane, saying "I wish we could fly away." Tsukushi feels touched as she watches it fly. That night, Tsukushi stays later at work to make some extra money. Yuki Matsuoka mentions the F4, describing them as "much nicer than [Tsukushi] made them out to be." Tsukushi covers her ears, not wanting to talk about Tsukasa.
After work, Tsukushi realizes that she will not be able to pay back Tsukasa for a long time and thinks she will have to get another job. She bumps into someone and drops her things. Someone, Junpei, picks up her toy and spells out "friend" on it. He says "Don't you want one?" and points to himself. To herself, she says "This weird kid?" He offers to show her his "deepest secret." Junpei brings her to a building, where she waits around for a while. Someone then whisks her into a room to do her hair, makeup, and wardrobe. He brings her to a photo set. Tsukushi is surprised to see Junpei modeling since he is normally so "geeky." He ropes her into modeling with him, which she resists at first though she eventually goes along with it.
