"Deep Wounds of the Heart" (
Tsukushi Makino finds herself at Shigeru Okawahara's villa with Tsukasa Domyoji and Rui Hanazawa. There she continues ignoring her own feelings, leading to her passing out in the bath. Rui is there to save and comfort her.
Plot[]
At her family's villa, Shigeru Okawahara sits down to dinner with Tsukushi Makino, Tsukasa Domyoji, and Rui Hanazawa. Shigeru tells them to be "more cheerful," though their somber moods does nothing to dampen her own spirits. Tsukasa is staring at Tsukushi, making her uncomfortable. She finds herself wishing Sojiro Nishikado and Akira Mimasaka were there since they would have lightened the mood. Shigeru tells Tsukushi to serve Rui his drink which she does. Tsukasa appears angry as Shigeru comments "You two make such a nice couple." He continues glaring at Tsukushi. She finds this irritating, wondering "What have I done to deserve that?"
Tsukushi asks Rui to "liven things up." He thinks for several moments, but cannot think of anything and asks "Can I go for a soak?" instead. Rui then leaves Tsukushi for the hot springs. Shigeru suggests for Tsukushi to accompany him, saying "He's the guy you said you can sit and do nothing with, right?" Not sure how to react, Tsukushi is at a loss for words. Tsukasa confirms it, saying "You had a crush on him, didn't you?" Tsukushi goes into a state of shock, which Shigeru does not notice. She is happy that she was right and declares that she wants to do a "compatibility check" on the couple later. Shigeru then asks for Tsukasa to take a bath with her, which he refuses so she drags Tsukushi with her instead.
In the bath, Tsukushi is still in a dazed state from Tsukasa's statement. She, nonetheless, tells Shigeru "It's great about you and Domyoji." Shigeru thanks her. Inside, Tsukushi calls herself a "liar." She actually feels hurt, acknowledging "When I saw them kiss, it put a scar somewhere on my body." Tsukushi recalls his promise to follow her "to the ends of the earth." Finding his feelings too intense, she "used his family as an excuse." After several minutes, Shigeru discovers that Tsukushi has fainted. She runs yelling for help and comes upon Tsukasa, who quickly pushes her aside to help Tsukushi. In the hallway, he meets Rui carrying the still unconscious Tsukushi. He then directs Shigeru to show them a room.
When Tsukushi finally wakes up, Rui offers her a glass a water. She takes it and he informs that she got overheated in the bath and passed out. Tsukushi notices that she is completely naked underneath the bedding. Completely embarrassed, she hides her entire body, before reaching for a robe and changing under the covers. She asks him if he "saw," to which he answers "I couldn't help it in that situation." Tsukushi is even more embarrassed, thinking "He saw all of me!" She then asks about Shigeru, at which point Rui reveals that they are sharing a room while she is currently with Tsukasa. Not happy about the room arrangements, she decides to talk to Shigeru until Rui warns her "They could be busy right now."
Shigeru calls Tsukasa's name several times to get his attention. She starts talking about her mother's suggestion to live with him while they attend college so she can "train to be a good wife." He moves her hands away from him, saying "Is that what you want? Or are you just walking the path laid down by your parents?" Shigeru asks "You mean, you want to choose the girl you love?," adding "But, you chose me, didn't you?" Distressed, Shigeru yells at Tsukasa to look at her. She then takes off her robe, standing naked in front of him. Meanwhile, Tsukushi and Rui are lying awake in bed. She asks him to hold her hand, thinking "Tonight, I'm gaining another scar. Maybe he's the one that can heal it, after all."
