Chapter 99 (第99話 () , Chapter 99) of Yoko Kamio's Boys Over Flowers series was first released in the manga magazine Margaret. It was published after the series took a one month break on August 5, 1996. The chapter was followed by the one hundredth installment on August 20.

Tsukasa Domyoji runs away from his birthday party with Tsukushi Makino in tow. He brings her aboard his family's yacht. Meanwhile, Kaede Domyoji gathers information on Tsukushi and decides to make the first move of her plan.

Plot

Tsukushi Makino shouts "Where are you going?!" as Tsukasa Domyoji drives. He turns his head to tell her to be quiet. Tsukasa accidentally ends up driving in the wrong lane, which almost causes him to crash into another car. At that moment, Tsukushi remembers that he does not have a license yet. He assures that he has been driving since middle school, which she does not find comforting. Tsukushi then bumps her head and falls asleep as the night's events fly through her head.

At a bar, Akira Mimasaka says "Tsukasa's growing up." Sojiro Nishikado wonders what he and Tsukushi are doing. The topic turns to Tsukasa's mother, whom the guys have only met a handful of times. They recall once when she told Tsukasa "If you continue to play with these boys, your brain will rot." Meanwhile, Tsukasa wakes up Tsukushi. She realizes they are the same yacht from the Atami trip and recalls losing her first kiss to Tsukasa back then. When he mentions it, she shouts "You stole that kiss, clod!"

Tsukushi and Tsukasa begin talking about his parents whom he has only seen once a year since he was a child. He also reveals that his mother manages a famous hotel chain, which surprises Tsukushi and she thinks "I never dreamed he was this rich." Tsukasa then tells her not to worry about his mother, asserting "I run my own life." Meanwhile, Kaede's secretary hands her a file on Tsukushi. Looking over the file, she declares "It's sooner than I intended, but the plan must be put into action."
