Chapter 73 (
Airi Maya begs Oto Edogawa to be with Tenma Hase in order to make him happy. Oto later meets with Tenma's parents to officially end their engagement. Meanwhile, Haruto Kaguragi asks his friends about places to go on a date.
Plot[]
Oto Edogawa feels awkward around Airi Maya, knowing that she has feelings for Tenma Hase and is unsure whether to broach the topic. Just as Oto is about to mention Haruto Kaguragi, Airi says "Hase hasn't given up on you yet." Airi begins crying and asks her to "Make Hase happy." At Haruto's house, he asks Kaito Taira, Issa Narumiya, and Sugimaru Eibi advice on date spots. Issa and Sugimaru are shocked that Haruto has a girlfriend and start asking questions. Hearing how it happened, the two believe he is "jumping to conclusions" with Sugimaru declaring "That's not dating."
Once Issa and Sugimaru leave, Kaito asks Haruto if Oto and Tenma are "over". Haruto is not sure, only having texted her that "[he will] do [his] best, so she should too." Kaito says "As long as you made your feelings known" with a forlorn look, before leaving. At Oto's house, she recalls Airi telling her that Haruto would be fine since he has the Correct 5, but that Tenma "only has [Oto]." She then leaves to go see Tenma's parents by herself since her mother has a cold.
During a storm, Oto enters Tenma's house. His stepmother immediately asks after her mother, before saying "Can't take responsibility to the very end, eh?" Tenma then greets her and escorts her to the room where his father is waiting. He starts talking about Oto and Tenma ending their engagement. Both Tenma and his stepmother attempt to interject. He ignores them, asking her for her reason. She then tells him "I have fallen in love with someone else." In her thoughts, Oto questions why she has to say aloud "the very words that will hurt [Tenma] the most."
