"I take back what I said before. Things are not destined to never go right for us. Things won't end up backfiring. It's not 100 percent certain that something will go wrong tomorrow. I hope my negative thoughts weren't overheard by a mischievous god."
Oto Edogawa

Oto Edogawa and Haruto Kaguragi are locked in Akira Mimasaka's guesthouse. She admits that she wanted to see him. Haruto does not want to get his hopes up again. However, he decides to go for it and embraces her.

Plot[]

After declaring that she wanted to see Haruto Kaguragi, Oto Edogawa pessimistically thinks "Things are destined to never go right for us." He stares back at her and repeats what she said. Haruto asks why she wanted to see him, to which she says "Do I need a reason?" He tells himself not "jump to conclusions" and remembers being rejected that day on the bridge. Seeing his face, Oto says "I know that it's all over for you" and tries to play off what she said.

Haruto continues recalling that day and having "decided to never get involved with [Oto] again." At the same time, Oto notices that she has a her cellphone and things about calling the main house, but begins sobbing. Haruto then embraces her suddenly and she hugs him back. He proclaims "I'll get beaten down as many times as it takes," meaning he is willing to take another chance at love. Oto is confused by his statement, but too nervous to dissect its meaning. Haruto then attempts to kiss her but the phone rings, interrupting the intimate moment.

Haruto tells Oto that he is going to settle things with Kei Windsor first and hopes to spend time with her after. Sojiro Nishikado and Akira Mimasaka then finally unlock the door. Sojiro remarks that "something about these two seems different" and Akira agrees. They frantically deny it, while blushing fiercely. Akira invites the two to have some tea. To herself, Oto takes back all of her pessimistic thoughts, saying "Things won't end up backfiring." She also adds that she hopes her thoughts "were [not] overheard by a mischievous god."
