Not to be confused with Chapter 61 of Boys Over Flowers Season 2.

"I have no desire to follow in my father's footsteps. I want to live as an ordinary man. I do not want to live under an umbrella of power as my father does. I don't want to have to come to parties like this. But I would like to introduce you to the girl I hope to marry one day."
Seinosuke Amakusa's speech

Chapter 61 (第61話 () ) is an installment of Boys Over Flowers that was included in the tenth volume. It was first serialized in the magazine Margaret on October 20, 1994.[1] It was followed by chapter sixty-two the following month.

Following Seinosuke Amakusa's confession, Tsukushi Makino remains confused about her feelings. She later asks Rui Hanazawa to accompany her to his party. There Seinosuke makes a shocking declaration about his future.

Plot[]

Tsukushi Makino stands still for several seconds after Seinosuke Amakusa had called her the "perfect girl." She wonders if that means he has feelings for her. The F4 then walk up behind her, making her jump in surprise and yell. Tsukasa Domyoji senses that she is hiding something from him, claiming "Something smells here." She hurriedly assures him that she is not hiding anything, though he still seems suspicious. He then leaves with the others to go out on the town.

At work, Tsukushi tells Yuki Matsuoka about what happened. Yuki comments "Tsukasa really loves you, doesn't he?" Tsukushi denies it, admitting that he said he loved her once but "It's not like that anymore." Yuki then asks her about her feelings towards Seinosuke Amakusa. Tsukushi says "I think it was better when I thought we were both poor," but blushes after thinking of his "intense gaze." Yuki advises her "You'd better live true to yourself, so you won't have any regrets."

Later, Tsukushi asks Rui Hanazawa to attend Seinosuke's party with her. He agrees since she has never asked him for anything before. They meet later that day and head to the party. There Tsukushi is surprised to see Tsukasa. He points out "how connected business and politics are." Seinosuke's father introduces his son to the crowd, before Seinosuke takes the stage. He announces "I have no desire to follow in my father's footsteps" and then goes on to call Tsukushi "the girl I hope to marry someday."
