Not to be confused with Chapter 53 of Boys Over Flowers Season 2.

"I like to hear the stories of guys like that. They tell me about how they lost their jobs. How they ended up living on the streets. They show how fragile people are. When something happens, if someone isn't beside them, they fall to pieces. That's why you should take good care of your dad. This is hardest on your dad, you know."
Seinosuke to Tsukushi

Chapter 53 (第53話 () ) is a chapter included in volume nine of Yoko Kamio's Boys Over Flowers. The chapter was originally released in Margaret's late June 1994 issue.[1] It was followed by chapter fifty-four the following July 5.

A guy rescues Tsukushi Makino from a shady situation. When he hears her plight, he gives her some advice about her father. Meanwhile, Tsukasa Domyoji resolves to forget about Tsukushi and plans to head to New York.

Plot[]

A delivery guy walks in on three guys restraining Tsukushi Makino. He insists on hearing her speak before leaving. They instead offer him more money for him to go away. He promptly twists one guy's arm behind his back and slams him to the ground, saying "Money settles everything, doesn't it?" The delivery guy then proceeds to fight the other men. One lets go of Tsukushi and she kicks him. Tsukushi and her savior run out of the building together as soon as there is an opening.

Outside, the guy lectures Tsukushi for going with the men. She seethes with rage, before finally bursting forth with all her problems. Tsukushi admits that her actions were foolish, but that he has "no right to judge [her]." Once she stops crying, they sit down in a park and he buys her an iced tea. They see a homeless man, whom the guy is friendly with. He tells Tsukushi to "take good care of [her] dad" since he has been hit "hardest" by the situation. Tsukushi is touched by his words.

At Eitoku Academy, Tsukasa Domyoji talks to Sojiro Nishikado and Akira Mimasaka about getting over Tsukushi and giving her to Rui Hanazawa. They then call over Rui, causing Tsukasa to leave soon. Sojiro and Akira ask Rui about the previous night. He admits that "nothing happened," despite considering it and saying that he liked Tsukushi. At the time, he felt that he could not betray Tsukasa. Meanwhile, Tsubaki Domyoji finds Tsukasa at home. He reveals to her that he is going to New York.
