"You hate me that much? You'd rather kill yourself. Do you love Rui that much? Why, Rui? Why my best friend?"
Tsukasa Domyoji

Chapter 47 (第47話 () ) of Boys Over Flowers by Yoko Kamio was first published on March 20, 1994 in the magazine, Margaret. The chapter also marked the series' second anniversary.[1] It was followed by chapter forty-eight in July. The chapter was collected in the series' eighth volume.

Tsukasa Domyoji makes one final plea to Tsukushi Makino for her to say she loves him. She resists his attempt to kiss her and Tsukasa takes this as his answer. The next day, Tsukushi heads to school for the basketball match.

Plot[]

Tsukasa Domyoji suddenly tightens his embrace around Tsukushi Makino. He then demands for her to say she loves him. Tsukushi averts her gaze and Tsukasa pushes her against a wall. He attempts to kiss her, but she yells at him to stop. Letting her go, Tsukushi collapses to the ground. Tsukasa says "You hate me that much?" He chastises himself for "fall[ing] for a girl like [her]." Walking away, Tsukasa promises "I'm not pulling any punches tomorrow." Smiling and crying, she answers "That's how I want..."

Watching Tsukasa walk away, Tsukushi wonders whether she will regret rejecting him one day. However, she reaffirms her decision to believe in Rui Hanazawa. The next morning, Chieko Makino goes to wake up Tsukushi and is surprised to find her already dressed. She then shocks her family by shouting "Fine!" loudly. Tsukushi walks to school with determination. Upon arriving, she is surprised to see large banners announcing the "F4 Showdown," which Sojiro Nishikado is behind.

After dressing in her sweats, Tsukushi walks to the court. She is a little taken aback by Rui's nonchalant attitude, but she has "decided to stick with this guy" and refuses to "give up." Kazuya Aoike arrives, covered in bruises from practicing too much. Tsukushi is touched by his tenacity. The three then put their hands together. Rui confidently says "We're going to win this!" Tsubaki Domyoji, acting as referee, signals the start of the match. Tsukushi thinks of Tsukasa's smile and "the strength of will hidden behind [it]."
