Chapter 44 (第44花 () , Chapter 44), also titled Episode 44 (44話 () , Episode 44), is an installment of Yoko Kamio's Boys Over Flowers Season 2. The chapter was published on March 5, 2017 on Shonen Jump+ and Viz Media's website. It was followed by the forty-fifth chapter on March 19.

Hitoshi Konoe quickly spreads the news of Haruto Kaguragi's and Tenma Hase's fight. Haruto continues his training, which is not going well. He meets F4's Sojiro Nishikado, who offers to help him practice archery.

Plot

At Eitoku Academy, the students are abuzz about the news of Haruto Kaguragi and Tenma Hase competing against each other. Meanwhile, Haruto's friends are also discussing the contest. Kaito Taira asks "whose side are you on?" to Oto Edogawa, who is standing quietly by the door. Issa Narumiya comments "of course she [is] on their side." Airi Maya takes up for her, though Oto insists that everything is her fault. Oto then thinks back to begging Hitoshi Konoe to not tell the schools about the contest. Konoe became offended that she would "go so far as to beg to protect Kaguragi."

Haruto is practicing archery with an instructor, Koizumi, in Kyoto. Someone arrives and the instructor goes over to speak to him. Haruto stares in shock as he realizes the identity of person is none other than the F4's Sojiro Nishikado. Sojiro is there to practice for an upcoming horseback archery competition. He then shoots off to arrows that land near the center of the target. Sojiro asks Koizumi if he is giving lessons to someone today. He points to Haruto and mentions that he attends Eitoku. Haruto suddenly bursts out "so sorry, Mr. Nishikado!"

The three guys sit down to talk about Haruto entering the "Manly Man Festival". Haruto declares that he "could never show [his] face to Mr. Domyoji again" if he loses. This intrigues Sojiro until Haruto states "as an Eitoku student I [cannot] sully the reputation of the F4". Sojiro believes the situation to be "pointless." Haruto then mentions not wanting to lose for Oto's sake. Sojiro seems impressed by this, saying "I [am] not against it if it [is] for a girl." He asks Haruto his name and tells him "you [have] gotta win this no matter what."
