Chapter 42 (
Tenma Hase catches Haruto Kaguragi hugging Oto Edogawa. Haruto refuses to apologize, even after Oto warns him about Tenma's martial arts background. The following night, Tenma challenges Haruto to a fight.
Tenma Hase demands that Haruto Kaguragi take his hands off Oto Edogawa. She tells Tenma that he was just "joking", which Haruto denies. Tenma calls him "despicable" for not considering Oto's feelings. Haruto reveals that he nearly gave up on pursuing Oto, but has decided to "end it when [he is] done". Tenma then walks off with Oto. Somewhat sad that Oto left with Tenma, Haruto still feels happy about holding her for the first time.
Tenma pulls Oto in the direction of her home. He apologizes for not having been there to stop Haruto earlier. Oto attempts to bring up Hitoshi Konoe, but Tenma cuts her off. He tells Oto that he is "boiling with rage" and will never forgive Haruto. The next day, Haruto meets with Airi Maya, Kaito Taira, Sugimaru Eibi, and Issa Narumiya to speak about the Eitoku attacks. Hearing that a Momonozono student was behind them, they predict a "battle" between the two schools.
Oto approaches Haruto to warn him about Tenma's anger. Haruto replies nonchalantly, "really?" Oto asks him to let whatever Tenma says to him go. Haruto refuses, saying "I'll take him on." That night, Kobayashi informs Haruto that someone is waiting for him at the front gate. He goes out to meet him. Tenma says "will you go one-on-one with me?" As Haruto considers this, he remembers Oto telling him that Tenma is a martial arts champion. Haruto accepts the challenge, replying "bring it on."
