Chapter 39 (第39花 () , Chapter 39), also known as Episode 39 (39話 () , Episode 39), of Yoko Kamio's Boys Over Flowers Season 2 was released on December 11, 2016. It was preceded by the thirty-eighth chapter on November 27 and was followed by the fortieth on December 25.

After Oto Edogawa learns that Hitoshi Konoe is behind the attacks on Eitoku students, she goes to tell Tenma Hase. Konoe happens to be with him at the time. Nonetheless, she informs Tenma, but he believes her to be mistaken.

Plot

Oto Edogawa finds out that Hitoshi Konoe is the one causing all the attacks on Eitoku students. Konoe, singularly focused on Tenma Hase, asks whether Haruto Kaguragi is the reason Oto is not transferring to Momonozono Academy. Oto tells him that she has "family circumstances", which he calls "an excuse". He says "you are not suitable for President Hase", before leaving. Oto's legs start to shake and she realizes that she has "to tell Tenma right away."

A servant lets Oto in, though Tenma is not currently at home. Oto, her stomach throbbing, looks at the framed photographs of Tenma. She recalls Konoe's story about Tenma stopping the other students from bullying him. Oto is struck by how "perfect" Tenma is and that she has never felt "good enough for [him]". Tenma arrives about an hour later. Frantic, Oto begins to tell Tenma her story. To her horror, Tenma invites Konoe into the room. Oto stares in shock as the Tenma and Konoe sit down. She suddenly points a shaking finger at Konoe.

Oto reveals him as the mastermind behind the Eitoku attacks. However, Konoe quickly puts on an innocent act, apologizing for having "struck a nerve" with the uniform. Tenma asks Oto if she "made a mistake" and realizes that Oto is not coming to Momonozono. Oto tells him that "[her] mother is against it", but Konoe insinuates that there is "another reason". Oto slaps Konoe, before telling Tenma "you [are] so infallible that you just do [not] understand those of us who have flaws". She runs out and sits down beside a building, where Haruto finds her.
