Chapter 37 (
Megumi Nishidome tries to convince Haruto Kaguragi to give up Oto Edogawa. However, Haruto decides he is not ready to "end it" yet. At the same time, Oto asks her mother if she can transfer to Momonozono.
Megumi Nishidome appears naked before Haruto Kaguragi and reminds him of her feelings for him. Haruto's mind goes "blank" and he wonders whether to "give up" on pursuing Oto Edogawa. Oto is going to "disappear from his life" and their meeting will "become a distant memory". He reasons that he should "run away from these [painful] feelings". Megumi begins crying and tenderly holds his hand. She tells him that she loves him and to "just forget all the bad stuff".
Meanwhile, Oto greets her mother, who now works at a supermarket. Oto waits for her mother with a coworker's child. His stubbornness reminds her of Haruto. Oto asks her mother if she can transfer to Momonozono Academy. She gives Oto a firm no, saying she always "admired Eitoku Academy". An embarrassed Megumi leaves the bathroom and promises to wait for Haruto in his room. Haruto again wonders if he should just "forget everything". He remains thinking in the bathroom for sometime, before entering his room.
Noticing his calmness, Megumi mentions that he "must be used to this kind of thing". Megumi reaches out to touch his face, but he pushes her hand away. Haruto says he is "not used to this" and that "[his life is] a lie". Megumi tells Haruto that is is "all over" between him and Oto. He insists that "it [is] only over when [he] decide[s] to end it." Megumi points out Oto's scarf that Haruto has secretly kept. She yells at him to "let it go" and "throw [the scarf] in the fireplace". Haruto simply tells her "sorry". To himself, he thinks "I don't want it to end just yet."
