- "Rui Hanazawa is in my arms. I've yearned for him for so long. No matter how cold he was toward me, I couldn't keep my eyes off him. If he even gave me a little smile during those hellish days, I was able to forget my pain. To think that he's in my arms now..."

Chapter 36 (
Rui Hanazawa recounts his life in France with Shizuka Todo to Tsukushi Makino. She accidentally leaves her pager with him, before returning to the resort. The next day, Tsukasa Domyoji is shocked to see that Rui has her pager.
Plot[]
Holding Rui Hanazawa, Tsukushi Makino thinks back on how much she has "yearned for him." He breaks the hold and begins telling her about his time with Shizuka Todo in France. The beginning was "glorious" and Rui reports being "happy every single day." However, according to Rui "the happy days were short-lived." Shizuka attended school during the day and worked at night, leaving Rui alone at home. He sadly reflects "I'm still just a kid who can't do anything for the women he loves."
Tsukushi's pager begins beeping with a message from Tsukasa Domyoji, asking where she is and telling her to come back. She heads back to the resort and accidentally leaves behind the pager. When Tsukasa asks where she went, she replies "I went for a walk alone." Sojiro Nishikado then tells her about Tsukasa waking up him and Akira Mimasaka "screaming that [Tsukushi was] missing." She feels a ping of guilt for lying to Tsukasa. Everyone then heads inside to go to sleep.
The next morning, everyone goes out to the beach. The F4 start a game of volleyball, while the girls sit in the shade. Noriko tells Hiroko that she is "depressed" since Rui never came to the room the previous night. Sojiro invites the girls to join, but only Tsukushi agrees. She scores a point, earning cheers from her teammates, Sojiro and Akira. Rui goes to pick up the ball and the pager falls out of his shorts. He asks Tsukasa to return it to Tsukushi, also mentioning their meeting on the beach.
