- "In less than 30 minutes after arriving in New York, I've been mugged. Three days worth of clothes, toiletries, jacket... No, I don't care about those things. Oh, he stole that too..."
- —Tsukushi in shock after being mugged
Chapter 191 (
Shortly after arriving in New York City, Tsukushi Makino's bag is stolen. She wanders around aimlessly until running into an old acquaintance, Thomas. He brings her to a place he shares with several other people, including the thief.
Plot[]
Tsukushi Makino arrives in New York City. She first decides to purchase a map and briefly sets down her bag. However, within seconds, she discovers it gone and spots a man in the distance dashing away with it. Shouting "Thief!," Tsukushi attempts to chase after the man. The busy traffic stops her from getting very far. Tsukushi sits down somewhere nearby, thinking about her situation. She quickly wipes away her tears and looks for a place to stay. Unfortunately, the hotel she goes to is far too expensive.
Thinking of Tsukasa Domyoji, Tsukushi wanders around until she finds herself lost. Two men then approach her. Tsukushi does not understand them and becomes scared and shouts. Another man, who knows Japanese, walks up and quickly recognizes her. She realizes he is Thomas. He reveals that he was deported from Japan and explains that the two men, his housemates, just thought she was lost. Thomas invites her to where he lives with his friends. Along the way, he asks about Sakurako Sanjo.
At Thomas's house, his friends are celebrating "some unexpected cash that came in." They are particularly excited about a necklace, which they put on Tsukushi. Realizing that it is her necklace, Tsukushi confronts the thief. However, he reveals that he has sold everything already. The others begin celebrating, telling Tsukushi that they are "grateful to [her]." She sits down on the couch and discovers a gun, which she throws into the air. Thomas scolds her, saying "It's not a toy."
