Chapter 188 (
Tsukushi Makino suggest going on a "poor man's date" to Tsukasa Domyoji. She takes him to a pet shop, whose owner gives them free tickets to a baseball game. There Tsukushi catches a ball, which Kaede Domyoji sees on television.
Plot
When Tsukasa Domyoji claims his mother has "made her move," Tsukushi Makino tries to find a different reason for his credit cards not working. She first says that they may have been expired or that there was "something wrong" with that restaurant. Tsukasa seems to go along with it, making a comment about the waiter. He then decides to call home to have someone bring him some money. Tsukushi, who is suddenly becoming nervous, grabs his arm and declares "Let's go on a poor man's date!!"
First, the couple go into a pet store. Tsukasa holds a puppy and tries to get Tsukasa to hold him as well. He refuses, leading Tsukushi to tease him about being afraid. The store manager puts the puppy in Tsukasa's arms, causing him to freeze. He then gives them tickets to a baseball game. Though Tsukasa is not interested, Tsukushi wants to go because it is free. Meanwhile, Kaede's secretary tells her her schedule while another subordinate reports what happened with Tsukasa's credit cards.
Tsukushi and Tsukasa find their seats at the stadium. Someone sitting next to them explains the importance of that particular game, though they remain clueless. The conversation flows to Tsukasa's childhood. He says that he could only "count on [him]self." Tsukushi remarks that it sounds "lonely." Though he refuses to admit it at first, he says "I'm not lonely now." The crowd becomes loudly as Mike Hall hits a baseball which Tsukushi catches. In New York, Kaede sees her and Tsukasa on television.
