"It wasn't so long ago that I was here. I'm way different from the person I was back then. My eyes are clear now, honest and direct."
Tsukushi Makino

Chapter 184 (第184話 () ) is an installment of Yoko Kamio's manga, Boys Over Flowers. The chapter was published on July 20, 2000 in the magazine, Margaret.[1] It was followed by chapter one hundred and eighty-five in August 2000. The chapter was also included in volume twenty-eight.

An angry Tsubaki Domyoji arrives back home and begins looking for Tsukasa Domyoji. The secret police surveil Tsukushi Makino's apartment. Tsukasa decides that the best place to hide would be his own house.

Plot[]

Tsubaki Domyoji storms into the mansion, shouting for Tama. She demands an explanation for the men posted at the front door. Tama reveals that they are there to prevent Tsukasa Domyoji from leaving. Tsubaki punches Misawa, the man in charge, who explains that the president ordered them to "watch [Tsukasa] closely." Tsubaki is reminded of her own situation as she goes in search for Tsukasa. She barges into several rooms, before Tama points her to the room Tsukasa is staying in. However, it is empty.

Tsukushi Makino speaks to her mother as she walks home. She hides when she sees a member of the secret police outside. When Tsukasa arrives in a taxi, Tsukushi stops him before he can be discovered. Tsukasa brings her back to his home, saying it is "the safest place since the S.P. are all scattered." Tsukushi carefully sneaks through the grounds, while Tsukasa confronts Misawa inside. He asks whether he "enjoys" following him around. Misawa answers "It's my job," which results in Tsukasa hitting him.

Tsukasa helps Tsukushi inside via a window. He laughs at her disheveled appearance, before lending her some clothes. Tsukushi washes up in the bathroom and changes. After she emerges, Tsukasa laughs again and then calls her "cute." Tsukushi becomes nervous, thinking of the previous night. He asks her if she is "tired of [their] relationship." Tsukushi says that, despite their difficulties, "[his] craziness has rubbed off on [her]" and that "[she is] not upset at all." Tsukasa then pulls her closer to him and kisses her.

Character appearances[]

Notes[]

  • The chapter was accompanied by a color illustration in Margaret No.16 of 2000.[2] It features Tsukushi and the F4, each separated in rectangles with an orange and purple background.
  • Episode nineteen of Meteor Garden (2001) includes the scene of Tsubaki storming through the mansion, but the rest of the storyline is original.
  • On "Kiss Day" (キスの日 () ) 2019, Kamio named the kiss at the end of this chapter as her favorite in the entire series.[3]
  • Also in 2019, the kiss scene was one of the images featured in the exhibit, Girls' Manga Graffiti.[4]
