Tsukushi: "You're the only one I could tell this to, Yuki. I don't know what to do."
Yuki: "But why did Tsukasa get violent with you?"
Tsukushi: "I don't know. He was his usual self until that morning, laughing and joking. And when he kissed me..."
Tsukushi is confused after Tsukasa's attack

Chapter 16 (第16話 () ) of Yoko Kamio's Boys Over Flowers was published in November 1992 in Margaret. It was preceded by chapter fifteen in October and followed by chapter seventeen in November 1992.

Tsukasa Domyoji threatens Tsukushi Makino. He kisses her against her will, but comes to his senses when she cries. Later, Tsukushi confides in Yuki Matsuoka, before asking her to accompany her to Shizuka Todo's party.

Plot[]

Tsukasa Domyoji threatens Tsukushi Makino, saying "I'm going to tear you to shreds." She tells him she is "going to scream", to which he says "No one's going to save you. Tsukushi becomes angry, asking what she did for him to act like this. In response, Tsukasa punches the window next to her, causing his knuckles to bleed. Tsukushi becomes truly frightened and throws her books in his face in order to distract him. She runs off but ends up tripping in the hallway.

Tsukasa pins Tsukushi to the ground and kisses her. When he attempts to go further, Tsukushi asks him to stop and starts crying. Tsukasa appears to come to his senses. He gently kisses her hair, promising "I won't do anything." Tsukushi returns home in an extremely disheveled state, much to her mother's horror. She tells them that she "fell", but her mother suspects she was "attacked by someone." She starts sobbing uncontrollably, telling herself "He wasn't the Tsukasa I knew."

Sometime later, Tsukushi visits Yuki Matsuoka to tell her about Tsukasa. She is confused about what happened and has not seen him since. Tsukushi then asks Yuki to attend Shizuka Todo's birthday with her. She agrees but wonders what they are going to wear. Yuki's sister agrees to help, dressing them in her night club clothes. Kazuya Aoike arrives to escort them to the party, before they can rethink the outfits. Upon arriving, Tsukasa and the other F4 members are the first people Tsukushi sees.

  • In chapter fifteen, which along with this chapter takes place on September 1, Shizuka says her birthday is "next week." However, it is stated to be October 4 towards the end of this chapter.
  • Yuki's sister mentions the discothéque, Joliana, which is a reference to the real Tokyo hotspot Juliana's. Tsukushi and Yuki later go to Joliana in chapters twenty-six and twenty-seven.

  • Chapter sixteen was originally published with a two-page color spread. The illustration features Tsukasa grabbing Tsukushi's arm, while she sticks her tongue out at him.[2] It was also republished in the art book and the second volume of the complete edition.
