Chapter 113 (第113話 () , Chapter 113) of Boys Over Flowers was first published in Margaret No.8 on March 20, 1997. It marked the fifth anniversary of the manga series. The chapter was followed by one hundred and fourteenth entry the next month. It was later collected into volume eighteen.

After saying goodbye to her family, Tsukushi Makino settles into living by herself. Meanwhile, Shigeru Okawahara decides to end her engagement with Tsukasa Domyoji. She later visits Tsukushi to explain everything.

Plot

Yuki Matsuoka exclaims "You're living alone?!" after Tsukushi Makino informs her of her family's current situation. She confesses "I'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared, but I've come to accept it." Sometime later, Tsukushi says goodbye to her parents and brother. Kazuya Aoike later arrives to help her paint the apartment. He asks if Tsukasa Domyoji knows that she is going to live alone. She tells him "There's no reason to tell him anyway." They are soon joined by Yuki, whom has come to help paint as well.

At Shigeru Okawahara's home, her mother approaches her and asks if something happened with Tsukasa. Shigeru remains silent until her mother mentions Tsukushi, whom Tsukasa's mother warned her about. She then declares "You may be my mother, but if you criticize Tsukushi I won't forgive you." That night, Tsukushi heads to bed. Someone knocks at the door, which scares Tsukushi. She sees hands attempting to open her window. Recognizing the voice, she finds Shigeru dangling out the window.

Shigeru tells Tsukushi that she has something to tell her. Thinking she wants to speak about her "first experience," Tsukushi tells Shigeru about her current situation and concludes "I don't think I'll be able to help you much anymore." Shigeru reveals that she lied about sleeping with Tsukasa and that she has asked to end the engagement. She, however, wishes to remain friends with her. Tsukushi agrees, telling her "If you don't mind me, you can remain my friend forever." Shigeru hugs her, saying "I'm so happy!"

Notes

• Anime episode "Hurricane Approaching" has a similar story line of Tsukushi's friends helping her redecorate. However, unlike in this chapter, Kazuya actually does a great deal of work.
