Boys Over Flowers is a South Korean series based on the manga of the same name.[1] It aired for twenty-five episodes on KBS2 from January to March 2009.[2][3] The series' seventeenth episode was delayed while Ku Hye-sun was recovering from a car accident. A talk show special aired in its place on March 2, 2009.[4]Boys Over Flowers was also extended by one episode.[5]
Geum Jan-di receives a scholarship to attend the prestigious Shinhwa High School. Her rich classmates treat her like an outcast, which gets worse when she stands up to F4's leader Gu Jun-pyo. In the meantime, she meets the handsome Yoon Ji-hoo, who helps her several times.
A rumor about Jan-di being pregnant is spread around school by Jun-pyo. She punches him in retaliation, which ultimately leads to his crush on her. He clumsily tries to pursue her but comes off as arrogant. Later, Ji-hoo's first love Min Seo-hyun returns from France.
Despite returning Ji-hoo's feelings, Seo-hyun decides to go back to France. Jan-di sees the two kiss, which would have been awkward if Jun-pyo had not saved her. She then gets drunk and spends the night at Jun-pyo's. Her opinion of him gradually begins to shift.
Ji-hoo decides to follow Seo-hyun to France. Later, Jan-di and Jun-pyo find themselves trapped together. After this incident, the whole school begins to think they are dating which Jun-pyo does not deny. Things turn sour when photos of Jan-di with another guy are circulated.
