Following the ending of Boys Over Flowers, Kim Joon contacted Lee Min-ho, Kim Hyun-joong, and Kim Bum to bring everyone together again. This lead to the release of the F4 Special Edition soundtrack and eventually After Story, a twenty-five minute music video.[7] Production was completed in secret.[8] A teaser video for it was released in April 20, 2009, followed by an official announcement days later. The first two episodes were released on April 28, 2009 on Mnet's website.[1][9] The final two episodes were originally expected on May 5, but were pushed back to May 19, 2009.[3] Clara Lee had a small part as Kim Joon's love interest.[5][10]
