In March 2009, Planet 905 announced that they would release a new soundtrack to Boys Over Flowers. The music was selected by the actors who played the F4, namely Lee Min-ho, Kim Hyun-joong, Kim Bum, and Kim Joon. Hyun-joong was the first to record.[3] On March 18, 2009, Hyun-joong's song "A Thing Called Happiness" (행복이란) was released online ahead of the album.[4]F4 Special Edition was released on April 28, the same day that Mnet aired the first two parts of After Story.[1] There were over 30,000 pre-orders for the album.[5] A second volume of F4 Special Edition was released on May 19, 2009 to coincide with the final two parts of After Story. It contains only two songs.[6][7] All of the songs were subsequently released into one package album on May 25.[8]
