Early life[]

Ishii was born on January 20, 1989 in Kanagawa Prefecture.[3] She wanted to be a ballerina when she was a child, but gave up her dream due to her height. Deciding to become a musical dancer, Ishii began studying jazz, tapdance, and singing.[4][1]

Career[]

In 2007, she made her debut in No.0 after joining Coffee Milk Theater Company (劇団コーヒー牛乳 () ).[3] She subsequently joined the Shiki Theatre Company. In her second year with the company, she was given her first major role in Spring Awakening.[1] Ishii went on to perform in several of the company's productions, including Maho o Suteta Majorin (2011),[5] Anne of Green Gables (2012),[6] Beauty and the Beast (2012), and Yume Karasameta Yume (2013).[7] She left Shiki in 2014 after nearly six years with the company.[4] Ishii then signed with Broadway Line Company.[1] She appeared in Rough Cut 2014[8] and On the Town starring Masayuki Sakamoto the same year.[9] Ishii also performed in No.0 (2014) again, this time with a larger role.[10] In 2015, Ishii appeared in Sunset Boulevard[11] and Broadway Musical Live.[12]

Ishii worked as a ballet instructor for two months, before appearing in Hana Yori Dango: The Musical in early 2016.[13] She appeared in My Fair Lady later that year,[14] followed by Endless Shock in 2017.[15] The following year, she performed in Mary Poppins[16] and Knight's Tale.[17] Ishii appeared in Endless Shock again in early 2019,[18] followed by a performance in Pippin.[19] In February 2020, she began appearing in West Side Story Season 2 as Rosalia, a member of the Sharks.[20] The rest of the performances were later cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.[21] Also in early 2020, Ishii had a small part in the musical scene of the film Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku.[22] As of April 2020, she has signed with a new agency, Plan Chime.[23]
